Elementary School Music Teacher

To provide students enrolled in the district with varied opportunities to learn about and enjoy musical experiences as a performer and/or as a listener. Instructs and plans the elementary school music program.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with major in music
• Valid Arkansas certification in the music field
• Two (2) years' experience (preferred)
• Piano skills, music notation, word processing, and audio recording
• Hands-on experience working as a music teacher
• Exceptional knowledge in music and music appreciation
• Sound knowledge of music curriculum and instruction
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Establish and lead a music program
• Instruct and manage the music program, promote school spirit during classes as well as performances and encourage student participation
• Prepare the curriculum for the elementary music program
• Supervise the elementary music program and coordinate with other music teachers to provide special musical programs and concerts
• Plan performance appearances for students involved in musical programs
• Curriculum, implementation, and all music program activities, concerts, and events
• Dynamic personality
• Ability to inspire students
• Present subject matter according to established guidelines
• Plan and utilize appropriate instructional and learning strategies and materials
• Utilize technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and emotional development
• Comply with and support all school district regulations and policies
• Maintain a clean and organized choir room and performance area
• Evaluate program, materials, and methods of instruction as to their value and effectiveness reaching the goals and objectives of the learning experiences
• Establish and maintain rapport with students and encourage student participation
• Ensure proper conduct and discipline of all students in the elementary music program
